LASIK Technology
At Greenberg LASIK, we’re proud to use the most advanced technology in LASIK eye surgery to offer our patients in Louisville and Indianapolis the best visual results possible at affordable prices.
Our commitment to using the highest-quality technology available in laser eye surgery is a core part of our practice. This is why we only perform All-Laser LASIK. While standard LASIK uses a microkeratome to create the corneal flap, a femtosecond laser is used during All-Laser LASIK surgery. This technology is also known as “bladeless” or “blade-free” LASIK.
Our Procedures
We specialize in two types of All-Laser LASIK – Custom Wavefront LASIK and Contoura LASIK.
Custom Wavefront LASIK:
This is one of the latest advancements in laser vision correction. Wavefront‑optimized technology uses two measured points on the corneal surface to limit glare and halos.
Contoura LASIK:
As the latest FDA-approved technology in LASIK, Contoura LASIK offers patients more advanced visual outcomes by using a high‑definition camera to map 22,000 points on the corneal surface. This map is then used to guide the laser treatment. While most patients have 20/20 vision after Contoura and Custom Wavefront LASIK, a higher number of patients achieve 20/15 vision or better after Contoura due to its precision.
Understanding LASIK Eye Surgery Technology
Both Custom Wavefront and Contoura LASIK offer exceptional visual results. Understanding the technology behind these procedures will help you decide what type of LASIK is right for you.
The Alcon WaveLight EX500 Excimer Laser
We perform both Custom Wavefront and Contoura LASIK using the WaveLight EX500 Excimer Laser from Alcon, which lets us customize the laser treatment to the unique characteristics of the patient’s eyes. The laser ablation speed operates at 500Hz, making it the most accurate excimer laser on the market. It also features an innovative swivel bed that decreases the length of the surgery.
The benefits of the WaveLight EX500 include:
- Smoother treatment
- Shorter surgery time
- Proven track record of safety
- More precise, superior visual results
This state-of-the-art technology lets us treat high prescriptions beyond what LASIK can do, including severe cases of nearsightedness, farsightedness, and astigmatism.
